I'm downloading a very hard to find media file that is completley legit and I do not want to discuss to avoid any thread derailments into the philosophical and the pseudolaw

I was hoping some of the BT vets on here could tell me if I should just give up or if this torrent is likley to get going again.

lol doesn't that mean there's no seed? look @ the details, you'll see that there's actually a ton of other people stuck @ that percentage. no seeds = no completion. usually happens in those pr0n torrents that get a bit old. wonder why pr0n torrents always have a lot of peers, but always no seeds

if the tracker is down, usually the whole thing just stops. Try re'dling the torrent and trying again? lol donno. usually when this happens, there's no seed :p

Good call guys.... 100% packet loss to the tracker :(

I wish I understood how BT actually works better. I understand it in theory, but if I had thought to check out the tracker, I woudlnt have needed to post this.

It's a tv show :( All of the season 15 torrents for Law & Order are now dead.

If you give me more info, I might be able to help. However, that log means absolutely nothing.

If other trackers for the same torrent file exist, you could try adding another tracker to see if you can get some seeds.

Use torrentsearch and then I would search IsoHunt for the Torrent your looking for. They usually have the main trackers for their torrents already added. You can also try using DHT (Depending on the tracker) or another client depending on what your using now and if DHT is a feature of that client. BitComet 0.59 will use DHT even on trackers that don't allow it, so you could try that as well to see. But most of the good torrent sites, that also ban the use of DHT, have also banned the versions of BitComet that do this

With that in mind, have you tried searching for other trackers that have the exact same torrent?

What client are you using?

I use ABC. I have not tried what you speak but am intrigued by your ideas and will try them.

In my experience, 9 times out of 10, if I cancelled the download at 99.6%, it would work no problems.

I used uTorrent for a while, but I ran into the same problem with a torrent not finishing at 99%. I switched back to Azureus and it was able to finish the file for me.

the tracker is down. use a bittorant client that uses DHT and you should be able to find some seeds.

See if you can open the file with virtualdub if it won't open with any media players you have. You may be able to open in virtualdub and save as avi. It may fix it so you can watch it anyway. You may have some dropped frames, or depending how your torrent client worked you may just be missing the very end of the file which shouldn't be a problem. If there were numerous people stuck at the same percentage most likely it's the end of the file. Hope this helps.
