The fan on my cltnt2 u sounds like it is trying to die. Every now and then it sounds like it is offbalance or scraping against something. If i touch the wire going to it from the card, it stops. But when i let go, it starts making the noise again. It is not overclocked btw and i rarely play games anymore.

If the fan is dying, where can i get a replacement one that will fit onto the existing heatsink. It is all stock.

sounds like you have something either loose or
somewhere there is a wire touching the fan..
if it is dying..
my guess is that you could get a 40mm fan from an old 486 computer(if you have one laying around) or you could order one..

i dont know..
i think if you tinker with the TNT fan..
you should be able to fix it..
you know.. blow all the dust out.. and if you can oil it..(if it one that can be oiled)

i would just tinker with it.... before buying a fan..
cause if you buy just one fan.. it will be alot.. considering that they arent really that much..
online -> U pay shipping too..
store around you -> probably expensive..
look around for someone or somewhere that have lots of old computers. that they arent using or that they are going to throw away..

power supplies have fans in them and cases that ppl chuck probably have one or two..
so you could salvage one instead of buying...

hehe

good luck

use a dab of glue to hold the wire down, since the way the fans are made, they wires are usually held down by a piece of plastic but if it comes loose the fan hits the wire making that noise.

I have blown the dust out. Now, when ever someone says give it a little oil, my first thought is wd40 but my gut says no. Right kind of oil or am i way off for electronics?

Pyr: Thanks. I will definitly do that. I dont know why i didnt even think of that.
