what does this MS Office file do?

after i installed Office 2000, the startup folder has this file...does anyone know what it does? i want to know so if i don't need it i'm going to take it out since its taking up resources...

Definitely get rid of that. I believe it's office startup, which helps programs to load quicker (who cares?).

"Office Startup Assistant" (OSA...) It loads some of the foundations of Office so the individual apps start faster when you call them.

It doesn't hurt anything to leave it in or to take it out.

thanks for the replies...its definitly getting taken out then...i only load word and excel like once a week maybe...
