What does this mean when....

Okay, i've seen so many honda preludes that have erratic idling when it's idling. My brother in law 92 does it, my friend's 95 does it, and the 87 prelude i'm looking to buy have this exact same problem. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? It seems like it's a common with all of the honda preludes. Is it an easy fix?

Sounds kind of like an idle air control motor problem, but I don't know anything specific for those cars. Of course, there are other things it could be as well.

i'm thinking of getting the prelude as a beater. Just wondering how cost effective is the buying and repair route. It leak transmission fluid, and erratic idling.

I think i can buy it for $300.

the IAC would be my first guess as well. But Isn't the '87 carbed with dual variable venturi carbs? My '86 was. Had about 3/4 of a mile of vacuum lines all over the place
