I'm getting a check engine light all the time. Here's the error I'm getting:

P1505 - Idle Air Control System at Adaptive Clip.

Light is on from the minute I turn on the car to the minute i turn it off

Says in the book that when it's on, you should Take it to the shop ASAP

No idea other than it's probably some stupid smog control crap

You need to check the idle air bypass solenoid/valve both electrically and physically.......what year/engine and how is the actual idle quality?

94/V6 - When I'm idle I notice this popping noise. hard to describe. pretty faint, but when the music is off and stuff it gets annoying

I'm not sure what kind of Idle Air Speed motor/solenoid/vale the V6 uses but that seems to be the area of your problem according to that code.....I could be wrong but I would definitely start there first.

The shop I took it to said according to the code, I'd need a new IAC Motor. They told me it owuld be about $135 installed. I just wanted to see if that would be wise, or if it might not be that

Sounds like the Idle air control valve failure. Whether the price is reasoable depends on the cost of the part and how hard it is to install.
