I want to buy a panaflo L1A for to complement my SK-7, but I'm not sure what newegg means when it says "Fan does not include connections".

Also, do I have to purchase this artic silver paste to run my cpu or can I skimp on this kind of thing?

Thanks,

cmai

It means the fans have bare leads... in otherwords... the wires coming from it have no connector of any sort, so you wiill have to buy the connector to put on.

As far as the thermal compound goes, you absolutely need it. Not necessarily AS3, but if you are getting a worthwhile HS, you might as well get it so you know you have the best of the best, rather than some cheap stuff. If you don't use and thermal compound, you might as well go ahead and order a new processor, too ;)

bare wires? Not exactly the fan I'd buy - even Fry's sells the fans with connectors.

Panaflo's are different... and better. You need to buy Panaflo connectors, the heatsink factory has them... and others. They just snap in and you're good to go, or you can wire it yourself.

Get a vantec stealth fan, same price, good airflow and quiet. Also includes fan connectors, unless you want to buy a seperate fan wire for the panaflo. If you have a local frys near you they sell the 3pin fan connectors for the mobo header.

Be careful about buying an L1A from Newegg anyway. Their 80mm L1As are 24V! Look at the specs closely before you buy.

This is because most panflo fans weren't originally designed for use in computers or something of the sort. A large amount of them were made with bare leads to better fit any project.

The stealths are pretty good, IMHO.
They work even better if you put some non-metal washers in between them and the case.

panaflos are overrated. just buy a fan speed controller or do a 7v trick on a cheapo 2.50 cent fan that comes with leds, fan grill, screws, converter cables etc.

only fan i'd bother with connectors is the pabst.

Honest? Because normally you'd lie instead? Then this variant, would not work:
