What does the Vista UI look like without Aero?

I'm going to be getting a new notebook and it will probably not be able to run Aero. So what does the UI look like when Aero isn't being used? Is not being able to use Aero going to be a big deal? Should I get a notebook that can run it?

Thanks!

So it looks like everything looks the same except no transparency.

Yes, I'm running Vista on an old laptop and Basic looks quite nice.

basic looks better than standard IMO.

The close button cut off on the top of the window is stupid.

I kinda like the button mashed up against the top, but then, it's familiar to me cuz that's how the title bar looks in my Ubuntu theme.
