In the case of the current one I know he doesn't buy that many books other then coloring ones so that's out.

My guess is matches for documents such as the Bill of Rights and The U.S. Constitution.

Probably nothing. Everything is provided for that undeserving bastard.

Not even allowed to or at least their salary while in office.

During the president's time in office, their income is managed by a designated 3rd party and everything the president needs is provided by the tax payers.

Here's a link on how much he and Cheney make, but I believe certain White House events are paid for by the president. However, I suspect that ultimately the money comes from elsewhere.

Sitting Presidents don't make a lot while in office (though i do believe Clinton upped the pay when he was leaving). Its when they are out that they make the big bucks. Bill Clinton has made tons since he has been out of office.

actually, I thought I had read once that the president was responsible for the food and other necessities in his living quarters. basically the taxpayers buy the catering for state events, but if George wants a bag of Cheetos at home, he gets a bill.

It looks like he gets a $50k expense account though, so that probably covers most of it.

As of January 1, 2005, members of Congress make $162,100. The president pro tempore of the Senate and the majority and minority leaders of both houses are paid $180,100. The speaker of the House of Representatives makes $208,100.

damn they make a lot of dough!

how did he make that money? i have no problem with it if it was income he generated himself based on his book and speeches and whatnot. but if he was getting paid from taxpayer money just because he is an ex-president, then wtf?!

well he still gets his pay as ex-president. i think thats for lifetime.

but the money came from his book and speaking arrengments. he charges something like $5 million for each time he does.
