What does the 6 pin power plug for a X1950XTX look like?

I am thinking about buying an X1950XTX for my two year old computer. People on this forum said my PSU would need a 6 pin plug or two separate 4 molex ones to combine with a Y adapter.

My 6800GT has a power plug that has 6 pins, the plug is a small box with 2 rows of 3 pins. Is that the 6 pin plug the X1950XTX would use? If so, does it only use one?

Thanks for any help.

It's the same PCI-E power connector that your 6800GT uses (2 rows of 3 pins), and I'm 99.9% certain that the X1950XTX would be like my X1900XT and use only one such connector.

Thanks. Just wanted to confirm before I ordered. My PC is a Dell XPS and the power supply is pretty proprietary and it is mounted in the door and I doubt an aftermarket would fit, so I am stuck with it, in this case.

Also, I am not sure its wattage is. I have never had a power problem and based on load consumption the 6800GT uses ~120 watts at idle and ~200 at peak. The X1950XTX actually uses less power at idle of 106 watts and its peak consumption is around 245.

Would that 45 extra watts be noticeable? I would imagine Dell would have put more power than needed at peak but know way to really know.

I didn't realize that they switched the 4-pin for a 6-pin connector on the PCIe verison. Good call.
