What does the -12V rail supply power to? It's reading -6?

Prime95 is getting an error after 2hrs 30min. I thought it was the PSU so I swapped the 480Watt True Blue for a 500Watt Ultra XConnect. The only thing that changed was the rats nest dissapeared! Prime still flunked out.

I just happened to check out SisoftSandra to just do some system scans and it says the -12V is actually reading -6V.

What does this power up and is this a problem? Other than pluging the PSU into a multimeter is there software that can read the power coming off the PSU?

Ignore it...Modern computers do not use the -12v line. Some newer power supplies don't even have a -12 line.

The output of an unloaded switching regulator can float quite a bit. There is almost nothing that uses -12 any more, so that line is generally unloaded. You could solder a 100 Ohm resistor between the -12V lead and ground if you want it to lock in.
