What does SE stand for in video card names? Is that a crippled version of a non-SE card?

"Sh!tty Edition"? ;)

Generally speaking, the "SE" cards of late, save the Ti4800SE, are severely crippled versions.

The 9600SE has half the bus bandwidth of the 9600, and the 9800SE has half the pipelines of a 9800.

STRANGLEmethiscardishorrible Edition

I'm bitter because I bought a 9600SE to put up against my overclocked 9200 and the 9200 blew it out of the water so I returned it :)

Actually, since STEAR is not a word, it would be one word.

My ATI inside source tells me that it really stands for: "Shoot yourself in the face if you buy this card- Edition" . Makes perfect sense to me! ;)
