What does it take to get a ton of responses to a topic?

I'd recommend starting another handle. Maybe something like... "Lightningbooty."

Yeah, it always works to make a handle along the lines of thunder thighs. err... edit: thunderbooty

It also helps to impersonate a woman.

I think a lot of it is luck. We've all seen some topics that are lightning rods for replies (religion, Napster, etc.), but assuming you're not counting the chat threads, the others seem to be kind of random. I can't cite a specific example, but a few times I've noticed threads that didn't go anywhere, and a week or so later the same topic in a new thread gets tons of replies.

For a great recent example of a thread that caught on for no obvious reason, look in the Distributed Computing forum for "ignore this thread".

Pastfinder,

why do you ask? Are you looking to leave your mark on this forum? If so, don't get any of your mark on me!

In my view signatures should 1) not exist and 2) if #1 isn't possible, be limited to 5-10 lines in length. :|

It really doesn't matter what handle you choose. Just tell everyone that you're female, and then dig up some pics somewhere and post them.

ltk007,

You're such a funny little boy. Not too bright, but funny, nonetheless.
