What does it mean when there is LOL at the end of a video filename?

Hello, not sure where to put this. I downloaded some videos and it has LOL at the end and I can't open them in anything. Anyone know what this means? Thanks

LOL is the release group. Don't they usually do TV episodes?

It's the tag for a group of people who rip/encode/upload TV shows.


Yeah, what he said 🙂...and if you're having trouble playing them, you probably just don't have the right codec. Most are Divx these days, make sure you have updated codecs, try getting a copy of K-Lite or something and install it.

The filename should tell you what codec they use, usually XviD.

sometime i rename .EXE and other files to .LOL when I send files over Gmail or MSN because those services block those filetypes.

Then you have a corrupt file.

VLC will play anything that LOL releases.

OP what is the file extension?

If it's not showing the file extension, go to View -> uncheck hide extensions of known file types.
