"It's the question that defines us?"

I've heard it in a movie, and someone said it to me today when I asked a retorical question. What's it mean?

asking a specific question reveals a lot about the kind of person you are

So when my friend asked if she had big boobs, that defines him as a shallow horn dog who's never seen a pair of bewbies in his life?

It refers to the point made before it was uttered. By itself it is meaningless. The inference is that the focus, perception and or, human condition of the target audience is declared by the point or rhetorical question.
