What does it mean when a police car flashes their yellow lights?

We were on a three lane highway with a police car all the way on the right while we were all the way on the left... there were a few other cars around. The police car goes into the middle lane about 4 car lengths in front of all the other cars and flashes its yellow lights for less than two seconds. Then the police car speeds up and moves towards an exit, stopping inbetween the exit and the highway where the water barriers are and shines a bright light across the highway... I'm pretty sure the light was focused on our car for a second or two. What the hell was going on? Did we do someting wrong. We were all like WTF does a yellow signal mean.

Dunno...

The police around here only have blue lights, or a bright white spotlight....no yellow.

Maybe he was telling you to quit driving in the left-hand-is-for-passing-not-driving lane. :)

Typically police around here have blue lights on for traffic stops; and blue lights with a couple yellow flashing for accidents.

Police where I live are d!ckwads. We have a qouta here; and around the end of the month you REALLY have to be careful. I've been pulled over and ticketed for going 9 over. (64 in a 55 on 285)

A cop car did that to me. He was in the left lane and I had been in the left lane also. But it was nearing my exit so I had just done 2 lane changes over to the far right. I'm about to do another lane change to the right when all of a sudden a bright beam shines into my car, blinding me. I couldn't even see where I was going until he turned the fscking thing off. No idea what he was trying to accomplish as I was driving perfectly fine. I never got a chance to ask what the hell it was all about because he took off down the left lane and I took my exit. Annoying at the least.
