What does it mean when a girl calls another girl pretty?

Girls are pretty good about complimenting each other when it comes to looks. Guys don't do it because we feel "gay" doing it. I have no problem with guys saying it, and I will too. No homophobia here.
 
Girls also hold hands, sit on each others laps, hug/kiss, and drape on each others shoulders, but(shockingly) they are not Lesbo. 😱 They be different.

Actually, my thesis is it translates to the following, the first part spoken, the second part unspoken and implied...

"she's pretty (but not as pretty as me)"
 
No, it's fishing for a compliment actually. Whenever a girl either compliments another girl or disparages herself she's begging for a "you're much prettier than she is" or "no, you're not fat, you're perfect..." reply. No wonder you guys all have 10,000 posts, none of you ever turned off your computer and got a real date, you're all sitting here salivating at these sapphic fantasies.
