Umm, most gay people don't.
Actually many of the really sexually active ones DO - it's a way that they can "find" each other. 😉

Hey - I'm just speaking from experience. My best friend is a lesbian, and most of her gay male friends don't talk with lisps.

It's a hysterical fact that gay men - especially during the dark ages (1970 and before) - that the lisp along with clothing signals and mannerisms was a form of communication so they could identify each other. Also when some of these men "come out" they seem to just embrace these (perceived) stereotypes.

True.

Same goes for lesbians, trannys, bis, etc.
I have to agree here, though I've found a majority of the trannys I've known to be a bit more eccentric than most other people.

The gay threads are getting old.
Ditto for yoU2

You were (also) clever enough to "bump" it . . .

damn closet cases . . . 😛

😀
Hate to tell ya, but you're bumping it too 😛

Is it dark in there?
I am not the one bitching about this thread and I also actually believe that I may be contributing something to it besides ridicule.

i know what I mean/meant and your sense of humor could possibly use a little tweaking.

😀

(do I need to explain everything? . . . We we're talking gay history and "hysterical" was quite appropriate.

This is a serious question. I work in Lower Manhattan and I've seen all types of homosexuals. I've seen feminine men; masculine homosexuals; homo-thugs. I've even hung out with guys that I thought weren't gay (we'd go to ball games, play video games, and watch tv and such).

To sum it all up, homosexual men do everything that heterosexual men do. The only difference seems to be the sexual act. Is that true or is there more to it?

Oh, oh here come the homophobes!

i agree - not anymore, especially Not after you dragged it out and beat it to death. 😛

Being homosexual means that one has a physical attraction only to one's own gender; the mannerisms and attitudes are cultural. It also has nothing to do with gender identity; there are "straight" and "gay" transgendered people. Bisexuals are sexually attracted to either gender, while bi-curious people are mainly attracted to the opposite sex yet are curious about experimentation, and likely get some enjoyment from same-sex activity. Being attracted to transgendered people is generally regarded as a heterosexual fetish (I say this from experience).

I don't understand why so many gay men have these lispy ways of talking.
That would be part of the homosexual 'culture'. It is exclusive to homosexual men. No other segment of the population behaves this way, not even females. I've met, known, talked to, stalked...errr...I mean watched thousands of women, I've even dated a few, and have yet to find a single female specimen who behaves in the exaggerated and flamboyant way that 'flaming' gay males do.

It seems loosely based in effeminate behavior, but amplified to some kind of extreme. Its deliberate and practiced to perfection as part of the homosexual culture and lifestyle. What its purpose or benefit or value is to the homosexual culture, well you'd have to ask a homo about that.

Yes, there are regular homosexuals who don't feel any kind of need to flaunt their homosexuality as part of some 'in-your-face' gay agenda and behave just like regular folks.

Unbelievable . . . OT has become gay-curious.

😛

Anyway, gay men can differ from each other as much as straight men differ from each other. And don't forget bi-sexual men and transgenderd men . . .

The only thing many gay men have in common is their attraction to other men. 😉

Naw, it's just Dari that's curious. Why else would he bring up the subject on a regular basis?

Back when I was a youngster, just going into highschool, and I came out, your first instint is to cling to the stereotypes that you know and associate with being gay. That gives you at least some loose association with a group to which you belong. It's hard to explain. Once you get over the 'newness' you eventually find yourself. You'll always retain some telltale sign of the stereotype though. That's how I can spot another gay guy easily, some subtle little quirk or idiocyncracy that is common to many.

Just thought I'd give you guys some insight from someone who's got the inside info. 😉
