I grew up in Ohio and never really had an issue with the cold winters. I've always been a lot warmer than everyone else. My body just generates a lot of heat, making me very resistant to cold but very susceptible to heat.

My ideal outside temperature, in shorts and a t-shirt, is around 63 degrees.

I've been living in and around the San Francisco Bay Area for 5 years now. The first year was miserable due to the heat. I figured that my body would adapt, but even after 5 years I still find it miserable to the point where I don't go outside during the summer. At all. I just sit and (usually) sweat in a Starbucks while drinking copious amounts of iced beverages.

What exactly does this mean for my body, and are there any long term things that I need to worry about? Also, does all this heat generation mean that I tend to burn more calories just sitting around?

My father had 'thick blood'. He was %100 Italian and died of a heart attack like his father did. My mother says that she could never sleep close to him in bed (cuddle) because his temperature was so hot. She told me that after his first heart attack, the doctor told him to take one baby aspirin (81mg) each day. She said that once he started doing that, he was much cooler.

So, I'd suggest that you check with your doctor first. Might as well make sure everything is in order. And, I'd ask him / her about taking a baby aspirin every day. Heck, some would just take one every day and see if it makes a difference. But, I won't suggest that without at least saying you should check with your doctor first.

Hopefully, some others here will chime in with more / better information.
