having never worn one, just curious.

are the newer, lighter ones bearable for a longer period of time?

They are only mildly uncomfortable. In the summer they get really sweaty and nasty. We have to tuck our tops in when working which makes them a bit more uncomfortable.

Btw, just talking about police vests in the states. Our vests over here are like 40 lbs.

I tried my old boss's body armor on. It was really heavy and bulky but not really uncomfortable. This was stuff he wore while doing some special operations in Haiti back in the 90s.

The type that the officers wear here is much better than our flak jackets we had at base security in the Navy. Those things were just horrible.

No offense, but did you read the question? He's not talking about the type of vest that you are thinking. He's asking about lightweight police vests.

They make bullet resistant dress shirts, evening wear, and leather jackets. Why go with a vest when you can go in style?

do most street cops wear level IIA vests nowadays?

how much do they restrict movement?
