Hi guys. My pc at work is crawling to a halt. Everything i do that has to do with hdd or network, is incredibly slow. I noticed that it slowed down considerably since that update. I also noticed that the software makes a connection to intel for whatever reason. My HDD light is constantly on and i have no idea what is happening.

This happened since i got an update from the intel rapid storage technology and companion software. When i looked at the addons from firefox at work, i noticed that i also got intel web protection technology and another intel rapid speed blahblah addon that i both do not want. At work we have a capable virus scanner/malware scanner/ webpages scanner/ email scanner that works fine. I dfo not want that intel stuff. Can i just de-install all this stuff without any worry ?

What does it do anyway ?

We are sort of our own IT unless it is server/ cloud or updates related. Then we bring in the big guy.

I have heard of issues with Intel RST and drive throttling. It's just an alternative SATA driver set, you can absolutely uninstall it and see if things get better. Worst case you reinstall.
