"The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block."
These are words I found in an error logged in my event viewer. What the heck does it mean?
Well, I have a problem with my CD rom drives (Creative DVD6x and Creative Cdrw 6x4x24) in that they are being recognized as DMA enabled drives. They are both running on PIO mode and transfers from cd to hard drive are very slow. I believe it transfers 300 megabytes of mp3s in about 2 minutes and a half. Sometimes, Windows explorer has trouble reading the contents of a cd and will freeze for about 10 to 15 seconds (this is in Win2k). Oh and my DVD rom drive seems to dislike reading any cdr's. What could be the problem? 😕 Well, when I build my next system it's going to be plextor all the way.
