What does everyone use to file taxes?

The last few years I've taken the easy way out and paid someone like H&R block to take care of them. I was a dependent then and always did it because my parents told me to. I'd like to do something free that isn't too difficult. I've heard of ez-file, but never done it. Anyone have experience with filing online and how it works. Links are appreciated. I'm 22 and a server at a family restaraunt. I don't know if this prevents me from using telefile or not. It's not like I'm getting a ton of money back anyway so I really don't want to pay $70 to get it done. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have a business. Even if it doesn't earn much it makes paying taxes rather complicated. I've found I save money by having an accountant do it for me. Last year I missed over $800 in deductions that he caught.
Need I say more?

Freejack2<--- has a business. Sirchadwick<---does not. I don't think there is anything to miss when I'm filing. I checked the turbotax website, but couldn't find anything free. Here are the prices.

Considering I paid over $300 to get mine done, $14.95 is a bargain. Check hot deals, probably can get some tax program for free after mail-in rebates.

Thanks Freejack! I've been so caught up in OT lately that I forgot Hot Deals existed...lol.

turbotax.com

Used that the past 3 years. Takes about 20 minutes to do, cost $20, have our refund in less than 2 weeks. Kind of cool, cuz now, depending on who your employer uses to report the tax info too (who does the paycheck paperwork) you can just enter in the employer ID and it'll automatically pull all the numbers for you. They also store all your dependant info and employer info from the previous year.

Yep. Ditto that. I get a bigass legal pad out to do all the figuring on beforehand and then fill in the 1040 when I'm done and have checked everything several times for accuracy.

I have used TurboTax in the past, but this year I'm using H&R Block. Not only is the federal file free for me, but it picked up on almost $3K in deductions (Tuition + 401K contributions) that TurboTax didn't. Damn near doubled my federal return.

I used TurboTax last year, and I clicked on this thread to see if people were still planning on using it this year, since they have that new security thing.

i have used turbotax for 3 years now and they are great. they give you the option of directly depositing your refund into a bank account with a week of filing. there is also irs.com which uses h&r block's services to file online. both are basically the same thing and both do state and federal filing. turbotax is so easy. it takes about an hour if you have uncomplicated tax returns

First year doing the tax. It shows on my W2 form that...Federal income tax withheld to be $55.22, social security tax withheld to be $186.21 and medicare tax withheld to be 43.55...so if I file a tax return do I get all these $$ back? Or just the federal income tax? Btw, if I follow the turbo Tax link above, which form should I go for? Basic or 1040EZ?
