no WinAmp? what's up with that?

I use WinAmp 5 for audio, and a combination of WMP 10 and Divx Player for video (divx player seems to handle corrupted video files a lot better than wmp).

Gomplayer
for those of you who arent in the know, gomplayer rocks cuz
-fastest player around, lower requirement than swan
-comes with most codecs and codec locator for missing ones (very few anyway, stuff like mastroka)
-plays incomplete files, files with broken index, and files with download in progress
-best smi support ever, lets you control everything (location, size, color, sync etc etc)
-supports m3u, pls, asx and lets you make a playlist with different file types
-fully skinable, skins are fairly easy to make
-lets you capture successive frames automatically (comes in very handy for making animated gifs)
-lets you seek thru an avi file by key frames (or # of seconds as configured by the user)
-customizable to no end (custom keyboard mouse shortcuts, VMR output, selectable full screen resolution and much more)

Is Gomplayer free?

I am in the process of changing my media player. I have been a die hard winamp user since the beginning of nullsoft but since the last of the origional developers left my feeling is that winamp is finished.

I have tried itunes but it is too big and not feature rich. VideoLan VLC player is awesome for video and I am going to give foobar2000 a shot today.

edit:

Are there other media players that let you browse shoucast servers. That is one of my fav featurs of winamp.

winamp and i dont plan on switching anytime soon

there is no other
plus it has the best internet radio broswer IMO

WMP 10 is the best media player IMO...it's simple, basic, good looking, sexy, and compatible with most formats...

I wish WMP would be able to play .mov and .raw

i HATE real player

Me too, seems like a largely disproportionate amount of Windows users here. Given the crowd and all 😛

I dual-boot though, so when I have to use windoze :shudder: I use winamp 2.8, and Media Player Classic/Zoom Player.

I would have liked to vote for Media Player Classic for anything video related and Winamp for anything audio related.

Is Gomplayer free?

yes, it is absolutely free, and they update quite often for being a free player. the only problem is the menus are not in english and they no plans of making an english version any time soon. if anyone can hack the codes, i will can help with translation 😉
