What does everyone here use to split movies?

As I've been through the many trials and tribulations of trying to split some old divx movies (for some reason at 760mb-800mb)...inicluding various avi spliiters, etc. They either crash or freeze for whatever reason in XP. Virtuadub makes me a 20gig file out of a 1gb file with low quality....🙂

What do people here use?

VirtualDub is the only one I've found that consistently splits movies successfully. If you select the "direct stream copy" option under the video and audio menus, then the combined size of the split files should be the same as the original.....quality should be exactly the same too.

Ok by splitting, do you mean for viewing them seperately, or just split a movie and join them later? If it's the later, then use hjsplit. It will split an avi file into .001 .002 files, which you can combine them again, using hjsplit.

I use Virtual Dub as well. As was said just make sure to check "Direct Stream Copy" under the Video Settings. I have never had a problem with it.
