what does double clutch downshifting do for you?

its easier on the synchros... and it doesn't upset the car under braking which is important during hard cornering when the weight shifts from the back to the front and so forth... its pretty useless in city driving.

..eh? If you rev between gears with the clutch in (w/o double clutching), you won't get the immediate slow-down caused by letting the clutch back in.

Btw..if you're worried about weight transfer, don't shift in corners...downshift before the corner. :)

Well that's why double clutching is done with heel and toe"ing"... double clutching in itself yields no obvious signficant benefit. But the hard cornering part is my boo boo... i should've said during hard braking then :)... downshifting during a corner is a big no no... :D

moving your foot so that the ball is on the brake and the heel is on the gas sounds like a good way to screw up your ankle

Watch some Japanese drifting video w/in-car footage...you'll probably catch some heel-toe video. They have some freakily good drivers..
