What does cas2 stand for in "sdram pc133 cas2"?

Column Address Strobe(C.A.S) it is the timing of the memory that is used to Address information with the processor itself, the 2 itself is correspondent on 2 TICKS timing to Address rather than 3 ticks on slower memory. If you get Cas2 memory over Cas3 then the cas2 will be faster in terms of system performance.

I maybe wrong but someone correct me if so.

what remedy said is completely accurate.

but in simpler terms:

cas latency is the number of clock cycles required for the ram to find the data that the cpu is asking for. the faster the cas latency, the faster the ram can find the data. cas2 ram only takes 2 clock cyles to find data. while cas 3 takes 3 cycles
