I've seen on a number of threads when someone seems to ask an unrelated question people will reply with the word Bump.

What does that mean? Is it a request for the moderators to remove the thread?

Bump, ttt (to the top), up, and ^ are all meant to "bump" a thread to the top of a forum list.

as Azraele said it just brings the thread back to the top so more people get the change to see the thread.
