Never knew...

p.s. what does 'homer' mean, it's a popular term on basketballboards.net, does it have anything to do with the simpsons?

Yeah, it's just Homer from the Simpsons.

Probably ripped from that episode where they get the word "homer" into pop culture. I think it was after Homer stopped a Nuclear Meltdown by just smashing buttons or something. After that, it was called "Pulling a Homer", or something like that.

Homer
(noun) Something great done by accident.

Horrible grammar, but also:
Homer
Homer - A typical well not so typical because he only roots for his team (the local team) when they are winning.
Boy Red is such a Homer.

Homer is someone who has a bias for their favorite (usually home) team in a logical sports discusson.

Say if a friend and I were discussing who the best team in the NFL is, and I were to argue for the Lions. That would make me a homer. (Oh yeah, and really dumb.)

homer on a sports forum means you are so enamoured with your home team that you are nearly irrational, and fail to see bad in your team.
