Just curious. Ontario is going up to ~16 cents plus delivery/taxes, etc. on peak. Half that in off-peak. What's your area's pricing like?

EDIT:

Current rates for us:

Off-Peak: 7.7c
Mid-peak: 11.4c
On-Peak: 14c

Changing soon to:

Off-Peak: 8c
Mid-peak: 12.2c
On-Peak: 16.1c

isn't it usually tiered. It's about .20 on the first tier, .30ish 2nd tier and some ripoff off like 60-80 cents on the 3rd tier.

$0.12 after all taxes, riders, distribution, etc.
No idea about on/off peak.
I just took my total bill divided by kWh.

Just signed up for $.059/kwh doesn't include taxes (which are low since I don't live in the city). Thank you Texas electricity deregulation!

Edit: strike that, it's actually $.053/kwh :)

I'm now surrounded by a couple of hundred windmills...my hydro bill will eventually get cheaper right?

Southern California. Mine starts at $0.15 and goes up from there. Then you an add on additional charges on top of that.

The way they bill electricity here is complicated.
On Peak: 14 cents
Mid Peak: 11.4 cents
Off Peak 07.7 cents

On top of that, you pay:
Delivery Fee
Regulatory Fee
Debt Retirement Charge (tax)

I forget what the specific rates for those are, but they aren't cheap. Sometimes they're more than actual electricity usage.

Oh, and 13% sales tax on top of all that.

I averaged out my last two bills (just divided the totals by the number of KWh used each month) and got $0.177.

Total of delivery & suppliers charges etc divided by kWh = $0.2337/kWh

The joys of living in MA, where expensive utilities force us to try to conserve.

And then when you do, they raise the rate because they aren't making enough $$, right?

Base 0.08kWh winter, 0.12kWh summer, with slight variance based on usage (above 2000kWh in summer is 0.133kWh or something). Substantially higher on peak hours (2pm-5pm for me).

At least I live in former NSTAR territory, not horrific National Grid areas where they lose power for days/weeks after big storms.

LOL, welcome to CA, 35 cents per KWH after about 500 kwh/mo. That said, I love my solar panels.

Man those figures seem high in general. I think my rate is .072 but I could get that closer to .06 if I shopped around. I see some plans at .05, but I'm sure there's caveats with it.

$10.40 monthly service fee
$.0755/kWh Tier 1 (up to 750 kWh)
$.0835/kWh Tier 2 (up to ??? kWh)
3.75% sales tax

We've rarely tipped the tier 2 charge, and I can't find a bill in the last 18 months that went over tier 2; the highest we've used is about 890kWh.
