Interesting thread reversal. That being said, I'd give my father every dime I had to help him out if I had to. Wouldn't think twice.

A great deal in my opinion, though it depends on how good they were as parents. Shitty parents don't deserve anything, or very little.
As it was I had great parents. They just broke up recently and my dad has fallen on hard times so he's living with me. Figured it was the least I could do.

A child owes their parent up to and including the average cost to raise a child from their birth year + 18, or approximately $340,000, whichever is greater.

With 18 years (of their life) remaining, they move in with you. You pay all the bills, but they get a part-time job to buy their own toys.
With 16 years remaining, they depend on you to drive them everywhere, quit their part-time job, and rely on you for all bills and toys.
With 13 years remaining, you become their legal guardian, and they depend on you more and more.
With 10 years remaining, you send them to adult day care so you can continue to work.
With 4 years remaining, you quit your job to care for them daily, and begin changing diapers as needed.

If they brought you up well you owe them what you can give them if they need it. If they were good parents they would have done the same for you when you were living with them.
