What does a 500 Internal server error usually mean?

Nocturnal

Lifer
I'm getting this at my website that is hosted from dathorn.

Any ideas? I already sent an e-mail to the guy but he hasn't responded back yet.

Any number of things really.

But if you mean that when you try to reach your home URL you get a 500 Internal server, dathorn probably has a routing error that mucks up when people try to reach your virtual server.

E-mail is working, I can get into my ftp and upload files and delete files just fine. I just can't access anything on my server/domain. I have linked photos I use for avatars at a few forums and they're all coming up as if the server is down.

That's the worst generic error ever. Could be an error in your script or a server configuration error, you name it.

500 is always a server side generated error. but it could be anyhting. Apache/httpd logs will show what went wrong.

Generally its an error with a script such as Perl.

It can mean a number of different things though, seeing as you cannot access anything on your website, i would say its a problem with dathorn, whatever that is, no-one will be able to answer other than dathorn.
