350k in the Dallas area will get you a nice, big house ( 3000-4000sq ft ) in a nice area. Or a smaller house in a more up scale area.

Do the Google camera trucks actually say Google or anything on them? If it's just a nondescript truck with a bunch of camera's mounted on it, homie probably thought the block was hot, for realz.

...but then you have to live in Dallas.

I was under the impression that even Texans hate Dallas. especially those that are native to Dallas.

I've been there several times on business. Dallas is a great town. I think you are mistaken. :)

I would live in Dallas if work took me there. No problem.

I'm from Dallas and I love Dallas. Best city in Texas, with Austin a close second.

It'd make more sense to kill them, as they are worthless to society.
I disagree entirely. Though the value to society of someone in need is diminished by pushing them into high-population-density (and thus high-crime) zones; Further, supporting this in high-cost-of-living zones diminishes the help we can offer those who are in need.

Do you honestly think of things in such straw-man terms?

Is this the way you defend hurting the very people you intend to help?

I was under the impression that even Texans hate Dallas. especially those that are native to Dallas.
I like Richardson/Plano. But I'm native to much deeper south, so Dallas seems nice and cool to me.

Been here for almost two years, after which I'll be officially branded as a San Franciscan, and it's not a happy thought.

/note to self - work harder at becoming the 1%.

OK, so that's one tourist and one native viewpoint.

This is in contrast to my information, collected from the musings of 2 natives regarding Dallas.

I am still more correct!

That's not far from Candlestick. I cruised it up the street to Griffith and Navy Sts.
That area is Hunter's Point.

Depends where you are on the 1%. If you're in the lowest rung of 1%, that's still only $380k, which means if you buy a house that is maximum 2.5x yearly income, that still places you in housing that still looks middle class (2-3 bedroom, 1-2 bath, 1000-1600 sqft).

Well, spending weeks living and working in a city is not playing tourist. :)

But, naturally everyone will have different viewpoints. Overall, Dallas is an awesome town and a very successful one.

Buy it an partition it into 4 section 8 apartments, win.

I bought a 950 sqft place in SF back in 200 for 420k, sold it sight unseen for 750k in 2005.

not really a good return, it took you over 1800 years to make 78%
