What do you use your netbook for?

I have a desktop as my main PC at home and a 14" laptop. I've never really felt motivated to bring the laptop to class or to a restaurant/coffee shop. I just don't see the need to be online in situations like that. I want to get a notebook partially out of gadget lust, but I also could see myself using it in situations like
-lying in bed catching up on TV shows with the netbook on my stomach (which is a little annoying with a full size laptop),
-keeping it on hand while reading a book to look up words in the dictionary or look up stuff on wikipedia if it's for school

What do you guys use them for?

The situations you listed is pretty much how I used mine. I actually had a MSI wind with OS X on it. It worked really well and prompted me to buy an actual Macbook. The Macbook now is pretty much my main computer (aside from gaming) so it stays docked nearly 99% of the time. I'm thinking about buying another netbook so I can take it around the house and when I'm on the go. Silly considering I already have a laptop? Yeah, probably, but I love me some gadgets.

I bought mine as an aide for playing PnP D&D games . . . which dissolved after the first game. Now, it serves when I need to take a short trip that requires a hotel stay. At home, its a gadget that mostly collects dust.

my 1000ha replaced my larger notebook (t23) which was my main rig..
I use it for pretty much everything (other than gaming)

Its not much good except for DM's. Unless every player has one AND they each have all the resources they need in digital format. Put a dice-rolling program on there and Excel character sheets and you could probably run a whole game with just the computers.

Also, I would think the screens are a little too small to get all the stuff you need displayed. Perhaps regular laptops would be better.

For me: When I do get one its strictly for college work, nothing more. I'd settle for a 4GB hard drive and linux with open office.

I use my 1000HA for school work. Microsoft Office (word, excel), Altera Quartus, PSPICE and a few other design programs.

I use my Mini 9 for school purposes (taking notes, PowerPoint, etc.), web browsing when I'm not around my desktop, and doing everything I normally do when I'm not at home. It comes in extremely handy, you just have to know the limitations of a netbook.

My Eee900 replaced my Lenovo laptop. I like the small size, and it does everything I need from a portable.
