Looking for some suggestions on what to use to wash my car with. Checked Google and there are tons of products but no good recommendations. I'm looking for everything from wash to wax and how often without effecting the paint.

I use one of those soft bristle brushes, like the ones at car washes but alot softer. I have used these, along with a lot of people I know and it doesn't leave swirl marks on your vehicle like others do, just use a seperate brush to wash your wheels/tires. And be sure to clean them out good.

As for soaps, thats still up in the air with me, I haven't decided what I like the best yet. I have been using this California Gold stuff, it seems to be working well.

I've got a two questions:

1)What does your name mean?
2)Why are you posting about car washing from your phone?

Meguiars gold class shampoo.

If it has been awhile, I'll clay bar it, then polish and wax, all Meguiars as well.

Dish soap will strip the wax right off your car...

Horrible idea.

I use Coral Blue car wash soap, Sonus Polish and pads for my Porter Cable, and Zaino waxes.

yeah, like what Adam Snow said, it's a horrible idea.
It's also bad for the paint. It's acting like a medium abrasive, the reason behind the 'shine'.
Most polishes are rated to be a really mild abrasive, dish soaps are baaaad.
The reason why it strips the wax off as well is because dishsoaps are a degreaser. Wax and degreaser don't mix.

What I'm getting ready to do:

1. Wash with Optimum No-Rinse Wash (Use a 100% Sheepskin Mitt)
2. Clay-Bar
3. Use Klasse AIO with a mild-cutting pad to clean paint.
4. Use Klass AIO with a finishing pad to act more as a wax.
5. Use Klasse SG x2 or x3

It'll be nice and purtty when finished!.

(The above will be done on my wheels as well...with the exception of using my PC on them)

I prefer to mix my own concoction:
I read a long time ago, use Dish detergent for the suds, add Laundry detergent for the silicone it has in it (Makes the finish shine, and helps eliminate water spots), and shampoo for the grease cutting.

I also add a splash of "Mean Green" if it's really nasty.

You should not use dishwash soap as it will strip the wax off the paint. Use a car wash soap that is made specifically for washing cars. Doesn't really matter which one.

I use some turtle wax brand soap with a large soft bristel scrub brush.

For wax i use Meguiars Gold Class. ($10/bottle and well worth it)

Sheep Wool Mitt w/ NXT car wash. Use NXT liquid wax to top it off and once in a while I'll use the NXT spray wax to boost. I had to polish the car to get the swirl marks off when I first got it. I only clay/polish once every season.

I did a fair amount of research and now use zaino. Go to ZAINO and you can learn more. I use it on a black car and am very satisified. Use both their wash and wax.
