What do you use to protect your camera lcd screens?

Up till now I'd buy cheap PDA protectors and cut them to size to fit onto my camera lcds. One $10 box will last me years. Anyone use Zagg InvisibleShields? Are they worth the money? There are usually 30-50% off coupons floating around for these. Any other products you guys use?

I use the blank sheets from ww.bestskinsever.com and cut them to size. Pretty much the same as the invisible shield stuff from zagg. You just don't get the fancy spray bottle and make your own soap water.

I don't use anything. I'm pretty careful with the LCD on my camera, and the few times I have bumped it haven't caused any scratches. I also hate the air bubbles and scratches/color distortion that ALWAYS happen with those covers no matter how carefully I apply them...

Nothing. They are almost impossible to scratch. Even if they do, they are cheap and easy to replace.

This. Short of hurling this thing at the ground, I doubt it'd scratch my 30D's screen. If that did ever happen... I'd be a LOT more worried about other components in the camera being damaged.

Nothing currently on gf's LCD. When I get mine I'll most likely use some old PDA protectors (assuming I didn't sell those with the PDA which I think I did... Opps)

Unless it's one of the new scratch-resistant VGA LCDs from Nikon or Canon, they are quite easy to scratch.

But most of the marks from normal use are small hair-line scratches, which are impossible to notice when the LCD is on.

Still, I think of an LCD protector as a cheap insurance policy. I've dropped my cameras and have broken LCD protectors, but I haven't cracked any LCD screens.

Search eBay for "GGS" plus your camera's make/model, and for under $10 shipped you can get a hard glass scratch resistant LCD protector that transmits a ton more light than your typical soft plastic LCD protector. GGS LCD protectors are incredibly popular with photographers.

Since 1996, I have had 10 digiams. DSLRs include Canons, D60; 20D, 5D (2), and uber P&S from Nikon and Canon. Never used anything - always take care of them in proper cases.

I really like the swivel and tilt LCDs - they can be turned inward for max protection.

Very nice, thanks.

Just curious, do you know if these are waterproof? By waterproof, will water seep in under the glass if submerged (rain, snowboarding, pool, not deep diving or anything).

The seal from the adhesive is water resistant; rain/snow use is fine. If you submerge/dunk your camera, water will probably seep through (although if you did that, water in the LCD is the last thing I'd be worrying about).

Never used anything and all of my cameras have pristine LCDs. I mostly use the LCD for chimping the histogram with highlight blinking turned on, so even a few scratches wouldn't worry me.

The problem with EBay is how to pay. Too much PayPal crap.

The GSS protectors are all here for any camera . . .

I see no point. For years , I carried my camera on my shoulder without any sort of protection and I carry it everywhere I go. Also, I'm not a type who takes good care of my gear.
So far, I've not got a single dent or scratch.
Even if it gets scratches or anything, the cost of replacing the screen is less than $20 and it's something that can be done very easily.

I do exactly that. Except for my D90, which has a clip-on clear hard plastic LCD protector that I use instead.

There is no scratches at all on my 30D or 40D. It's not the LCD, what you see on every Canon SLR is a cover, it's just built in..but extremely serviceable.

THEY ARE NOT EASY TO SCRATCH. Stop misinforming people. My old 30D's screen is immaculate after a quick wipe with a t shirt. While I don't throw my camera around, it's not coddled or babied.

I'll give you the distortion, but a properly applied ZAGG/BSE/clone can be bubble free. I have it on my Palm Pre, the bubbles disappear after a week tops.

Now, orange peel effect.... is a whole other story =)

Hrm, so how easily serviceable is the 20D's LCD protector? I got mine 2nd hand, and it seemed somewhat easy to scratch, hence buying the blank BSE screens.

On the Canon's (eos and rebel line at least, 350d and 50d that I know firsthand) - the bit that you see IS the screen protector. The "screen" pops off and is replaceable.

I have yet to get any decent scratches on it at all.

For my Sony a700, I've used and been quite happy with Giotto's AEGIS Pro series hard protectors... 98% light transmission, 12 layer AR coatings, etc... Top of the line...
The Sony branded ones are cheap, scratch easily, and don't stay on very well... The Giotto's ones are quite nice, although more expensive...
