What do you use to get accurate cpu temps?

I've a T-bird 1000@1200 on a KT7A-R and I've heard the temp. sensor on this board isn't very accurate. Is there a better way of measuring the chips temp? Will DigiDoc(spelling?) measure cpu temps?

Digital Docs give decent results. The best way it to get a palomino w/ an internal diode reading MB ;).

If you go to AMD's site, they have a document detailing the proper way to take measurements of your T-Bird. HOWEVER, it involves some precision drilling into your Heatsink to place the Thermistor in EXACTLY the proper location to take the temperature of your CPU.

AMD Thermal, Mechanical, and Chassis Cooling Design Guide. Check out the section on "Thermocouple Installation"

Except that when you go to the AMD pdf, drilling the heatsink gives you heatsink-surface temp, not actual CPU temp, as a certain heatsink review sites likes to believe ;).

It is still valid for heatsink comparisons, but its important to note that hte CPU(both die and core) temp is higher(and will always be higher) than a heatsink-mounted thermocouple.

True Mike. However, the alternative would be to drill a hole and insert a thermistor directly in the Core. Not sure if my hands are steady enough for that, tho. So, this is probably as close as one can get without getting ultra-intrusive...
