I used claritin, since i am allergic to cats and we have one. After about 2 weeks, i said screw this and just dealt with it. Another 3 weeks later, I no longer sniffled, sneezed, etc.

I have used claritin for years, and it's always worked. But regular claritin, not clarting D, that stuff did nothing. I start taking it a few weeks before spring, all summer long, and stop once the leaves fall off the trees. And I have no alergy symptoms at all! But, this year I started late (cause you have to get it OTC now, and it costs me more :( ) And I noticed a big difference. But I am on top of it now.

Claritin until the pharmacy I used stopped carrying it (?) so now I'm on Zyrtec which is just as good. If it stops those allergies, I don't care what it's called or who makes it.

Clarinex is basically Claritin changed ever so slightly and then repatented so the company that makes it could still have a revenue stream. There's really not much different between the two.

Dimetap heh... the grape syrup :p Its getting bad this year so I might use Claritan.

I just wait it out.
I used to have to take lots of stuff including prescription steroids for severe allergies but since I moved out of FL 5 years ago I've taken something for it exactly twice and that was non-drowsy sudafed which you don't have on your poll. Benadryl always works good too but it makes you tired.

I had Claritin a few times almost 15 years ago while it was still in testing. The first time it definately worked, the second time barely noticable difference, the 3rd time nothing. I don't trust it -- the fact you become immune to the drug so fast suggests to me its probably addictive.

Well, I am going to act as a Public Service announcement and encourage EVERYONE to try douching with a neti pot.

And yes, tomorrow is a day off of work for me, so I can afford to post wildly. :p

Well, first you fill it with purified, lightly salted, 98-99 degree water. Then, while breathing through your mouth, pour it from one nostril to the other. Your sinuses are washed out by the process.

Kind of like an enema for your nose.
