Hi,
I was wondering what you guys used as a mouse surface.
I tend to just use my bare desk, but ive heard that the pads on the bottoms of mouses can get worn away, and in the uk, afaik, theres no where to buy replacements.

Im thinking of stick a piece of blank A4 paper to my desk, and use my mouse on that. That way i can jot things down as well. lol.

I might get a new mouse mat next month, but cannot decide which one, which from the following website is best. My mouse is a MX700 bty.

I don't use a pad, even for my 3rd Mouse (it's a ball), BTA I use a flomica kitchen table for my most used rig as it has plenty of leg room to boot ;)

Everglide.co.uk carry everything you need ,all kinds of mouse mats and tape for your mouse feet "Mouse Skatez " .

MX700 would be great with Everglide Optical Giganta mouse pad.

Do you know of any reviews of them?
What exactely are they? Just some sort of tape, or a set of mini tab things for the mouse?

Func 1030 is good so is the Giganta optical, the Attack Optical is just a smaller version, the Icemat is the tricky one since not all optical mouse work with this and you must get the BLACK ICEMAT version for the optical mice that do work it.

Use google search engine, there`s lots of reviews of the above on the net.

I will say the Giganta/attack optical pads have been designed to extend battery life as well on cordless mice, the optical sensor finds it easier to read so needs less sensor power for tracking,so you get better battery life and smoother tracking.

I use my desk and I guess it probably wears my pads down since my 2 year old MS wheel mouse optical is scratching bare desk now. My Logitech Dual Optical is still fine, though. I would get a ratpadz to help it, but I heard that wears it down too.

For my optical mouse on the server, my desk,
For the optical mouse on my main rig, nothing. It's a trackball ;)

Main rig- arm of my recliner- MX700
Office- taped a piece of heavy stock paper to the desk- wired optical

A lighter surface makes the MX-700 batteries last longer.
Thinking about laminating the paper to see if it works better(smoother).

i have a really nice older moust pad from belkin that i cant find anywere. its an old style surface but what i really like is the wide wrist support!, its not gel but its positiond pefectly for my hand(actually i dont know what the material is), even people who hate mice pads like mine!

I wouldnt. Laminates are very reflective, and it will screw around with the MX700s sensor.

Unless they're covered with teflon tape, I'm thinking most mouse feet will wear out those fancy pads. And pretty quick if you're a gamer. I play Counter-Strike some. My MS Intellimouse Optical wore my Ratpadz smoooooooth.

But then teflon tape came to the rescue!

Here in the US of A you can order a lifetime supply of teflon tape for $1.95 + $4.00 frt (1/4" X 16 yards) from here:
