This is what i'm gonna buy next week from newegg:

1.mobo= asus p4t533-c $174
2.cpu= p4 2.53ghz retail $284
3.memory= kingston KINGSTON KVR1066X16-8/256 RAMBUS 256MB 1066MHZ NON-ECC $147 (i'll buy 2)
4.video card= radeon 9700 pro

total= $752

this is the other component what i'm gonna use from my old system

-sound card= audigy gamer
-cd-rw= sony 16x10x40
-dvd= sony 16x10x40
-hard disk= maxtor 60 gb 7200rpm
-modem
-floppy
-network card
-320 watt PSU
-OS windos xp home edt

do i should ecc memory or non ecc for the rambus??
and i'm gonna buy the video card somewhere else

Mwave.com is a good place to check for components. Directron has tons of cases/modding stuff, but they also stock a good number of parts as well. I looked at ordering a new mainboard, ram, and case from them, I think shipping was onlike like $15 for the whole order (as opposed to $15 for just a case at newegg)

I ordered a enermax 440. Costs $86 which is not that expensive.

Where do you think you'll get the radeon from? Gamestop.com did have them on their webpage for $331. But they aren't listed on the webpage anymore. So either they sold what they had or someone jumped the gun and added it to the webpage before they got them in. Hopefully they just sold them all because I ordered one.

Also, I ordered the house brand/Samsung 1066 memory from buymstar.com for $116. They say that it is fully tested and guaranteed to work on the Asus P4T533-C MB.

oh yea i check the memory and it'll work with the mobo but it house brand.

Not to thread crap or tell you where to shop, but you can get the mobo, RAM and CPU for quite a bit less at Googlegear.

Asus P4T533-C $170
P4 2.53GHz, 533MHz FSB, Socket 478 Retail $253
Kingston 256MB PC1066 RDRAM $146 x2 $292

Total: $715
Shipping: $3.50

That's 33 bucks you save, and Googlegear is a reputable company.

BTW, your PSU should be fine, and ECC RAM is not really needed unless you're at high altitudes and/or running mission critical servers.

Yeah, I know it is hous brand but it uses the Samsung chips. So, I figure it is like using the same engine in different model cars only different body styles. If it works it would save you $30 per card.

Also, I thought that I read on Asus' webpage that the MB uses non-ECC. Maybe it will still work with ECC memory I don't know because before yesterday I didn't even know what it stood for.

When I get my stuff I'll let you know how it pans out. If you haven't built by then.
 
I already ordered it all. So as soon as it gets here. The ETA on the CPU is the first week of sept. As for the Radeon, I don't know when it will get here.
 
Buymstar.com is not listed on resellerratings.com, and the only review on Anandtech ratings is negative.

I'd be leary...

Mwave, on the other hand is highly rated. 🙂

I called gamestop this morning and they said they only got 200 on their shipment so they ran out. The next shipment comes in tomorrow so they told me to expect an e-mail tomorrow. Due to the holiday weekend, she said it might not get shipped till Tuesday.

As for buymstar. I hope the memory works fine since it is already here waiting for the delivery truck to bring it to my house. Unfortunately I won't know until the computer actually gets here.

I am thinking about canceling my order at atacom and rushing an order through newegg.

The girl (I think it was Stephanie) said that their shipment is supposed to come in tomorrow. I e-mailed them about this yesterday when I noticed mine hadn't shiped. Then I called today and talked to her. Right after that I got an e-mail saying that I should have an e-mail update in 24 hours. So, if I get the update to say they got them in and they shipped, I will let you know.
