I just went on vacation from work. I asked for, and was approved for last Thurs., Fri. , and Monday. I had been told by the group that I was going with that we would be back Sunday night. My boss asked me when I would be back, I told him Monday, but I took the day off just in case. Guess what, we didnt come home till Monday night. I did call my boss and leave a message at 4am, before we went out hunting, and let him know that I wouldnt be in till tuesday morning. We were out hunting, with no phones available untill 7pm monday night, so its not like I could have called him and talked to him live.
Now he is giving me a rast of sh!t because there was no one to support the system on Monday, and I told him that I would be back on Monday. The guy I work with doesnt show up for work till 930 or so. Apparently my boss was late too. There were apparently 7 users that needed help when my boss did come in. I think he got a whippen from his boss and sh!t rolls down hill.
I think that I am in the right, being that I had Monday off, approved, in writting. I also did call and leave a message for him. He says "I am very, very, disappointed in you. I dont know how I am going to handle this situation. I will let you know.
Jesus, nice ending for my firstvacation in 2 years. You cant really talk back to him, its important to him that he is right. He is also the one that does all of the firing at our company. They call him Dr. Death. When ever hegoes to a branch, they are holdingthere breath wonderingwho is getting fired.

all you have to do is show him the time off request with his signatur that says you had monday off.

If a company can't be without one person for one day someone isn't doing a good job managing. I would worry about loosing your job. If everything falls apart in one day without you being there I don't see how they could afford to let you go.

I say leave him alone and don't push the situation unless he actually does fire you. When he does, raise hell with your proof to whomever may be more important. That's really all you can do given your situation and his personality.
