Hey guys,
I could use everyone's opinion on this P4 3.4 Northwood Processor. This processor is going into the abit AI7 mobo.

I do plan to OC just a little, nothing too extreme. Anybody have any problems with this processor so far, if any? I plan on buying this on monday and then next week my RAM. Everyone's opinions is recommended, both good or bad.

You might want to consider used, I got a 3.4C several months ago for 100$ less than that one. 30 cap too. ^^ No problems, but I do feel this range of Intel's lineup is overpriced for the not-so-huge performance increase you get over the slower chips. Don't expect it to OC as much above stock as the 2.4's and whatever, since this high speed is closer to the max for this core. You should also mention why you're going Intel instead of AMD, since I'm sure it will get brought up otherwise. ;p

Oh ok, thanks guys. I chose intel over amd for a few reasons but mainly because I've had intel pc's all my life and haven't had a problem with them. I do understand that they cost much more too which pisses me off. I'll look into this more later.

If your going Intel P4s, and you are proficient at overclocking, get the 3.0 c 800fsb Northwoods instead. You can easily overclock them to 3.6; some even claim to get 4.0 ghz with the lucky ones, and since you mentioned oc'ing minimally this 3.0-->3.6 is just right for you.
At the local Frys you can get it for $160, I think the 3.4 northwoods are $350 still.
