maybe if the picture was sharper without the small blue border and the blue text, actually, it can look really good if you sharpen the picut reup and get rid of the text

I think it'd be more tasteful if you sized it down and tinted it a tad to a base color like blue. Use the colorize (Ctrl-U) feature of Photoshop.

Also, the position is off-center. A simple div align = "center" would work better than coordinates you've got there.

So you would not have any text anywhere on that page?

Yeah, I wouldn't have any text on that page. Center it like rh71 suggested, that'll help. Other than that, try sharpening it up/cleaning it up a bit in photoshop

I don't think the url needs to be on the image- since they're already at your site, they already have the url in the location bar.

[rant]I'm not a big fan of sites with entry pages/graphics in general. Nothing against your site in particular, but I feel that 99.9% of the time, It's useless... just an extra click that doesn't really serve any purpose. Bad usability design.[/rant]

Would there be a way to make it go to the home page after like displaying the graphic for 2 seconds, with no click required? Would that be better usability wise?

You do not need an entry graphic for your website. It is a waste of time and an annoyance.

And if you are going to use one, at least make it look somewhat impressive, as it would reflect upon the quality site that it directs to. And the border makes it even worse!

My advice: delete that.

I'm not a fan of click-to-enter pages either, but if you must... a meta refresh after a second (it feels long enough) isn't a bad idea. At least then you still allow your audience to see the logo and they can continue without needing to click. Keep the click there though, in case the meta refresh fails for whatever reason on the client end.
