NK tests missiles, what now?
1. It's been proven time and time again China is growing tired of NK's antics. NK is like China's retarded half brother. Modern China being a major trading partner with US and the world, China won't back up NK if shit hits the fan (or anyone in the right mind). It's obvious China secretly wishes NK would just magically disappear. I would NOT be surprised if China secretly helps diffusing the NK situation if opportunities arise.
2. Quite frankly NK can do whatever they want. They can build missiles & nukes. Aside from stern warnings, everyone knows NK holds SK by the balls. Yes, SK has formidable military themselves, but they have oh-so much to lose.
3. NK leaders may be brainwashed, but they're not some kind of illogical mad men. Some leaders probably don't believe the bullshit they feed to rest of the country. I'm trying to say that NK will not do anything crazy in the near future. Quite frankly, no one is willing to go to war and bomb each other back to stone age. While famine and starvation wreak the entire nation, the top leaders of NK are rather cozy sitting at the throne. They aren't going to give that up.
So here are my speculations for what happens to North Korea in the future- No one is touching North Korea. Not South, not US, not UN or China. They have nothing to gain from it. And NK isn't blowing up anyone soon either.- because they also have nothing to gain from it. They're just bolstering their military for the negotiation leverage & keeping their 'don't fuck with us' option.
So the only changes that come out of North Korea are 2 possibilities:
1. A slow, but super gradual self-willing change occurs from leadership themselves- NK has shown rather surprise interest in economic change. They're also focusing on their tourism. NK will be akin to old-world China- oppressive first, but money finally talks. And slowly but surely their policies change one by one. They'll maintain their core values, but it'll be a shadow of its former self.
2. North Korea implodes- the civil unrest finally had enough and a huge revolt happens. Because the military is so oppressive and strong, the only way it happens is if the leadership itself becomes divided and one tries pit the people against each other.
It is possible that nothing happens. But I just don't see this happening in next 50 years. North Koreans have been watching underground SK movies & dramas, they do know what the world is like out there. It'll only get worse, never better, before a big change comes.
What are your thoughts?
