What do you think will happen to Cuba when Castro dies?

I've spoken with friends that are Cuban American and they think that "they" as a people with the help of the US will flock back to reclaim it.

Personally i dont think it will be that easy. I dont think communism will crumble the second he dies. Castro is a smart man so i'm sure he is grooming someone to take over his position.

what are your thoughts?
 
I hope Cubans will repel any attempt to "reclaim" Cuba. If anything Cubans need to reclaim Guantanamo . . . that neighborhood has really gone to hell. There's nothing worse than a bad tenant that you cannot evict.

My understanding is that Castro is grooming his son for the transition. Hardliners will likely remain but the younger Castro is allegedly more Allende/Hugo Chavez than od man Fidel. Hopefully, Cuba will embrace democratic reforms but I doubt it will stray dramatically from its socialist tendencies.
 
Florida Cubans are gonna blow their load and do another Bay of Pigs. I don't think they'll be able to get their former lands back.
 
It will become a democratic capitalist nation within a generation after Castro dies.

I doubt the Floridian Cubans will be getting any of thier old land or any compensation, but I think they will try.

Hey those are Cuban-Americans . . . if you don't like how they play the game then maybe someone should revoke their special immigration status. I think the Cubans (Cuban-Americans) should be admired for learning how to grab Florida pols by the cajones.
 
You guys are so optimistic about the prospects for democracy in Cuba. Look what happened in N Korea when Kim Il Sung died. We got Kim Il Jung.
