Democrats changed the rules and more or less allow Bloomberg to buy his way in to the debate, huge mark of corruption against the democratic party.
Iowa primary was botched and then all the results were left wrong so that they could anoint the loser Pete "the winner"
Neolibs still dividing the party and fighting against the interests of the american people.
I don't know if Sanders will be able to overcome and defeat all their lying, cheating, and propaganda.
The "Machine" is difficult to overcome.

A neolib likely will lose to trump (while winning popular vote)
Sanders seems like the only one who has a chance at actually beating trump.

Too difficult to say at this point. Many people are worried Trump will be reelected, but a lot can happen between February and November.

We have yet to see what happens when the Dems center around one candidate. We don't know how that winner will fare in debates, assuming Trump doesn't chicken out as he threatened to do. It's not clear how some attempts to fight Republican vote rigging will fare. And of course, there's the wildcards that can skew the election. Trump had better hope those warnings of a looming recession don't come true before November, because if they do he has nothing.

Bernie is willing to pay full retail plus a markup for votes, that's going to get him places.

I think the American people are far too aware of the blatant corruption of the Republican party for Trump to have a fair chance. Of course, I also don't even remotely believe the Republicans intend to let the election be fair. At this point I kinda expect Trump to declare himself king and McConnell, Graham, Gaetz, Nunes, Jordan and others to back that.

My gut says people are just tired of Trump and so more than anything else that means he probably loses, but I don't feel super confident about that.

As others mentioned while I'm confident he will lose the popular vote I'm less confident he will lose the Electoral College. He's also already cheating to win the election so depending on how much more of that he does that could help too.

I think it's too close to call right now because we still don't know who the Democratic candidate will be. Insane Trump voters will still vote for Trump, hardcore Republicans will still vote for Trump. The key to victory or defeat for the Democrats is if the person they tap as their candidate to run against Trump can energize enough people in the states that matter to vote for them.

Not even a little surprising.
Here in CA we have vote harvesting, the dems are pretty good at it, the republicans have been slow on the uptake.

To be clear, I have no issue with buying votes, it's a time honored tradition. My issues come into play when I have to write a check for that purpose. As an example, my piece of forgiving student loan debt would be about $8k (four thousand each for the wife and I), I have to question why I should be on the hook for that.

I think this is accurate. Trump has done a few things I agree with, but his never ending twitter stupidity and his complete inability to shut his mouth is well beyond annoying. He also needs to throw his adult children out of the white house. None of those things will ever happen, and I honestly believe some folks who voted for him last time will vote against him this year just because they're sick of him running his mouth.

Well, I can agree with this part of your post. I think 70% might be the highest agreement percentage we'll ever reach.

I can't help but think that an effective campaign ad against him would simply say "Trump is the swamp." He's so corrupt and just... well, evil that he makes both Clintons look like bastions of integrity.

It'll all depend on Democrats turning out. Republicans/GOP will turn up en masse at polls as usual i.e. as if their lives depended on it. Trump won in 2016 in large part due to low Democratic turnout. If Democrats can get over their apathy they can win White House, Senate, and keep the HoR.

As far as what's going to happen, it's too early to tell. I feel confident enough to say that Trump will lose the popular vote worse than he did in 2016. Unfortunately, I don't feel confident that MI/WI/PA have learned their lesson yet, and say what you want, economy is still in good/decent shape which is going to help Trump.

If Sanders wins the nomination, Trump and GOP has the best chance to win.

Last week I spoke with some GOP strategists who help in local races, and they intend to run ads with the clip from the first debate where Sanders admitted he will also raise taxes on the middle class (which btw is accurate if he wants Europe-style socialism where middle class does in fact pay higher taxes).

Biden seems too weak, so best things for Dems would be if Mike Bloomberg would win. That's what the GOP is most afraid off. Trump has only lost 10% support among Republicans, but those would vote from Bloomberg which would be enough to make him president since this is a 50/50 country so every percentage counts.

Depends on who wins the nomination. Sanders is strong in the rust belt and has a antiestablishment credibility that could drive turnout and give the Democrats the white house and the senate. Bloomberg is a billionaire oligarch who will turn off the Democratic base and Trump and the GOP will glide to a win in November against him. More middle of the road Democrats like Klobuchar, Biden, or Mayor Pete would probably be better than a coin-flip to win since the Democrat base is pissed and bigger than the Republican base, but they better run a campaign more than Orange Hitler is a Crook, because it didn't get Hillary across the finish line.

It's really weird the Dem candidates have been leading Drumpf in every poll I've seen. Makes no sense in light of how the economy is doing, the impeachment bid failing, and his approval rating rising. I wonder if there is just some trump fatigue out there in the electorate, like people don't want to put up with the drama for 4 more years.

His approval rating isn't really rising though, it's basically the same it's always been, maybe up like a point or something. It's still in the low 40's, which corresponds with someone losing re-election so it's not really surprising he's losing to the Democrats in matchups. The news tends to hype outlier polls for clicks.

The main thing I see right now is that Bernie won't win over the disaffected Republicans and Independents. I can see them swallowing their pride to vote for a Democrat. Voting for a self proclaimed Democratic Socialist..... Not so much.

Joke's on them, there's nobody left in the middle class.

CNN had it 49% last week, I think.

- Then there are the people that are vocally against him, get in the voting booth and... chicken out. Their 401K is doing OK today, so why vote against that?

If there is one thing I've learned in my short time on Earth, its that people will talk shit all day long but ask for even the slightest bit of skin in the game and all that bravado crumbles.
