who knows. they tried to make the S3 immune to apple suits but that didn't work. so who knows what the fuck the next phone will look like.

there aren't really many shapes they can use that are actually worth useing.

Hopefully they get away from the fugly retro-rounded look and more like what LG is doing. (LG's design is forward thinking, the Optimus line is totally what a 2012 phone design should look like. Sadly, every Samsung design since the SGS2 has been more like something from 1982.)

If Apple doesn't like it, Samsung (and everyone else) should tell them to go pound sand. They can't own the basic shapes, and none of these things look anything like the iPhones in reality anyway. (The SGS2 and everything currently from LG look a hell of a lot better and more modern than the iPhone.)

I'm pretty bored of the blocky, square, glued together look.

I want something more flowing.

The front of the S3 is great, the way the glass curves and blends into the silver border. The border could be better material and the back is a bit bland though.

I want a Samsung Galaxy that is magical and grants me wishes.

But in a more serious note. I think the current specs are fine but I want phones to come standard with a HDMI output so I can hook it up to my TV or monitor. Eventually I want my phone to be my mobile computer.

Luckily you can replace the back with a much higher quality battery door.

It seems to me the stock back is designed to be disposable in favor of a better third party door anyway. The day I got my phone I ordered 5 different battery doors (brushed aluminum, carbon fiber, etc) for $5-$10 each off eBay. The stock one was way too slick- textured carbon fiber makes the phone feel great in your hand and greatly increases grip.

I think Ill wait till the wireless charging kit comes out before I replace the back cover.

1080p is way overboard for a phone.

Which is precisely why I want it. iPad didn't need 2048x1536 yet it has it. Galaxy S & S2 had hardware way above the competition. S3 is more inline with others. If S3 had 720p RGB, A15 dual core, and 2gb ram, jaws would've dropped and game over for everyone else this year. Instead we got lot of hype and a basket of poorly executed gimmicky software like S-voice.

I'm completely happy with my galaxy nexus.

I would be interested in upgrading if the new phone offered the better performance AND better battery life without becoming too much heavier. I'd also be interested in a noticeably larger screen, gimme a galaxy nexus note with 5.6" screen please. I'm no expert on cellular technology, but I think it would be neat if they could make a single phone that can work on Verizon/Sprint/AT&T/T-Mobile/Virgin Mobile/Whatever. And LTE support, of course.

Really, I'll probably skip the next generation of phones, at least initially, as the galaxy nexus is plenty fast for everything I do, despite it's age.

You act like SAMOLED HD+ and Cortex A15 chips were just sitting in Samsungs factories and collecting dust. Its not like Samsung had a choice in the matter, the technology was simply not available. And the hype was mainly from blogs and nerds (as usual)

Secondly a 1080P resolution would make it into a 5 inch screen at the very least. If they can keep it the same size as S3 then thats cool but if gets any bigger it would not only cannibalize Galaxy Note sales but Samsung might lose the average joe consumer base. Not everyone wants to carry a brick around

I'd rather not have them try to fit a full sized HDMI socket on my phone thanks. :p

It doesn't have to be a full size HDMI socket. The LG G2X has a micro hdmi slot that can output to a standard size HDMI cord. It doesn't change the form factor that much from what is already in the market. At the moment its a niche market but with WP8 coming out I don't see why can't they have them.

I'd still rather use the miniUSB socket rather than have another socket on the phone. You need a lead for both options anyway.

I didn't think S3 would have A15 but I really thought SAMOLED HD+ was given considering the November 2011 release of the Galaxy Nexus with SAMOLED HD. I figured 6+ months was plenty of time and Samsung was saving it for their flagship device. But to give Samsung credit, SAMOLED HD on the SGS3 definitely looks better than the SAMOLED HD on the Galaxy Nexus.

A15, I was secretly hoping Samsung had beaten TI and others to the punch. And until late last night I was led to believe Apple had somehow managed to put A15 in their iPhone 5 which I found unbelievable and drool worthy. Now I find out Anand was wrong and iPhone 5 doesn't have A15 but rather custom hybrid like Krait. Which is still cool but not complete game changer like having A15 maybe ~1 yr before everyone else. SGS3 went from has been to relevant again with that one piece of correction.

As for 1080P, that's just my dream. Like you I do not want 5+" device as my main phone. Current Galaxy Nexus and SGS3 size about the biggest I want to go.

Well its only now we are starting to realize just how far Cortex A15 cores were from being available in a device. They are physically twice as big as Cortex A9 cores.. and they were intended to go into servers

So realistically i wouldnt expect them in a phone until big.Little is available, they are just too big and draw too much power by themselves. Im sure some crazy OEM will do it but it wont be the best experience

Well the Galaxy Note 2 has SAMOLED HD+ so that nonsense about pentile being chosen cause it lasts longer was clearly BS otherwise they wouldn't have use it in the Note 2.

2 GHz Cortex A15 with Cortex A7 support cores in a big.Little setup

Mali 6 series GPU

2 GB RAM

youm indestructable samoled screen with RBG stripe (not bigger than 4.8)

Sony Exmor RS sensor

SD slot

Add either a removable battery or a Razr Max sized battery and that is my next phone.

Of course it was BS, Samsung couldn't make a non-Pentile 720p screen this year.

I hope they do it next year or I might actually have to look at other options.

3 things I wish my GNex was better at:

1. Screen quality (its good, but its no IPS)
2. GPU Power (its lacking although its fine for browsing and stuff)
3. Battery Life

If they can look at these 3 things, that would be a major win. I want a phone that can make it through the day on LTE. Haven't found one yet.

Don't know why people post images of these all the time, but I find it ugly as hell. We do need SOME sort of bezel. Please tell me I'm not alone in finding this ugly.

Yeah a small bezel is needed and the S2 is looking old now.

Why do we need any more bezel than necessary? My brain can't separate how useless I think unused bezel space is from the aesthetic opinions it forms, since IP5 fixed the iPhone's aspect ratio, excessive bezel is now my biggest complaint against Apple's design.
