What do you think that Nvidia will do below the 1070?

Will they rename existing GPUs or just drop prices on the 9 series skus to fit below 1070 in price?

My gut feeling is they will just drop prices on the 950, 960, 970 and the 980 all being below the 1070 assuming the costs will allow them to profit at the lower prices.

Or will they just wait until they release new 10 series GPU's to fill in the gaps below the 1070?

1060 will launch at $250 offering performance close to the 970.But when will Nvidia launch the 1060 is anyone's guess.

I'm not honestly sure why smallish Pascal is quite so low profile. Obvious why NV isn't pushing them of course - to keep each release in the spotlight 🙂
(Imagine to keep the logistics sane too.).

But GP106(?) is in that drive module thing shipping in Autumn sometime, and there were rumoured specs for GP106/07 somewhere in a thread etc.

If nothing else, NV are very unlikely to miss the refresh notebook market.

If the 1060 matches or even beats the gtx 970 at the $200 price point, then they're gonna sell like hotcakes!
You're right 1060 will match 970 performance but wrong about $200 price point. It will $249. If it is to be $200 then it won't match 970.You can only have one but not both.

Would it be a good deal @ $250 if it comes with only 4GB? I hope aftermarket 8GB models are available right from the start. 4GB will become the new obsolete 2GB sooner than we expect.

I think so, if the new standard is 4gb, then that would be great going forward for developers & the industry!

I'm surprised how much newer games use, Xcom2 uses 3.7-4gb on my gtx 970. Who says the gtx 970 can only use 3.5gb??
