What do you think of upgrading GPU from 7870 to R9 290?

290 tri X would be a good upgrade, and I would consider a 3770k as well, if possible, assuming you can OC with your current Mobo.

That's a bit silly why would I do a pointless CPU upgrade for a GPU upgrade? I don't use that much CPU intensive programs. What's your logic lol.

What's is logic?

You are running a locked CPU, in order to get the most out of your GPU, you need to OC most of the time...Basic 101.
