Our site, myhsr, is really simple because it needed to be, but now I want to spend soem $$ on it and don't have time to make it from scratch.

Msot of our clients have cable/DSL, so flash might not be a bad idea this time around...even so, I can always makea portal and two versions, one static and one flash

If you're going to have a nice template like that, don't drag it down with sucky P&S stock photography.

Content is king! Stick to a simple XHTML/CSS based design that does not distract the user, content is what will sell the service. Yes, that is a bit opposite of what it may seem if you visit my site, but things will be changing soon.

I think the primary thing you need to do is make it very easy for people to see examples of your work. I really wouldn't care about a slick template as a prospective client, I just want to see what I'm interested in as quickly and easily as possible. Your current site doesn't really do that well. I'd also want to see more detailed descriptions.

I guess my main point is that content is king. The site looks fine, it just needs more information, organized well.

There are plenty of very nice *free* website templates out there.

www.oswd.org

http://openwebdesign.org/

I am sure you can find something nice and easy to navigate.

that's how I made mine:p
but have you checked them out lately?

I really like http://openwebdesign.org/ myself. Lots to choose from.

I want our work to be the center of attention without being cheesy and without compromising the usability of the navigation tools

for example, THAT is a nice site
not bad.

maybe you could learn some website building skills and make your own?

Basic HTML is easy enough with the right program.

I am learning CSS on a great website.

it's not that..I jsut don't ahve the time...I have the day off today so maybe I will spend some....I can code, but it's a pain in the ass for me since I am slow at coding...
