I blew out my motherboard and both hard drives this weekend. I think my AMD 2200 Athlon XP is still good not sure.

my sound, video, wireless card are good and I can use my cd burner/dvd player.

I have 1 GB of PC2700 RAM that is still good. If I get the following, how much will the PC2700 ram slow the system down? Currently I have a Radeon 9000 video card and this card below is better.

Given that I would re-use my PC2700 Ram is this worth $340? How m uch of an improvement over my AMD 2200+ is this?

Second point: Here is a celeron system. If I use my PC2700 RAM and my radeon 9000 card, how much better is this than my AMD 2200?

So that's $340 for the combo (good deal btw - leagues and leagues better than the 9000). Which 939 cpu would you be buying? The cheapest is around $160, making the total $500.

Forget the celeron system. Forget it right now. :frown:

yeah, if you buy that gt/mobo combo, your going to need to buy a new processor, which is going to run minimum $150. That puts your upgrade at $500.

Personally, I would find an old, used socket a board, stick the 2200 + pc2700 +9000 in that with a cheap hd from hot deals. That'll cost about a hundred bucks if you don't look.
Then buy a real mobo, epox 9npa for 80 bucks, a gt for 300, a gig of value select for 75, and an athlon 3200 for 150 (or, an opteron 146 for better oc for 175) and 100 bucks for hd/psu.

That'll give you two PC's for around USD$800, your old one which imo is perfectly fine for all ****** non-gaming now, and your second PC is great performance/price. I understand that's more than double what you were looking at earlier, but rebuilding that old computer just isn't worth the price. 939 comps are great values in terms of performance over price, and my route will give you two computers.
